Do you even remember those days where you had time to plan your outfit and take a soak in the bath before hitting the tiles?

Preparation
  • 5 minutes (Dry shampoo, spritz of deodorant, check your outfit for stains, swap your flats for heels and slick on some lipgloss)
  • Drinking time: 2 hours (It’s essential that you’re tucked up in bed by 10pm)
  • Difficulty rating: Easy (unless you get the dreaded phone call to come home)
Ingredients
  • Wine
  • Wine
  • More wine...
Method
  • Reserve an area in the bar for 8pm, check with the manager that the music won’t be too loud so you can actually hear each other talk. Make sure everyone’s mobiles are left on full volume and agree that no one will make anyone else feel bad for checking it every two minutes.
  • Next add in some advice, tips and sympathy and check that no one’s fallen asleep on the table. If they have prod them gently and failing that just cover them in their coat so that they don’t get cold. At this stage it’s time to laugh at each others horror stories, celebrate any milestones and get up to speed on all the gossip. Make sure that everyone’s glass is full and if not then top them up.
  • Stir in some birth stories and raise a glass to each other for enduring the pain of labour. Share photos on your phones and add in lots of compliments about how cute all the kids are.
  • As soon as you notice that lots of people are yawning the ‘Mum’s night out’ is finished. Take a taxi home and try to remember to take off your make up before you get into bed.
