Running around after kids is exhausting. As much as they can tire you out, however, you don’t get the same endorphins boost you do with aerobic exercise.

Looking after children is also mentally tiring, whereas if you do a workout, it can leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever life (or your kids) throw at you next. Here are a couple of options if you’re looking to start a regular at-home workout.

Joe Wicks HIIT Session

Most families tuned into 'P.E With Joe' at some point over lockdown, and in some cases every day. Now the kids are back in school, there’s no reason to kiss the workouts goodbye. If you’re looking for something aimed at adults rather than school kids, his HIIT (high-intensity interval training) sessions could be right up your street. And the great news? They’re free!

The options are virtually endless and there’s one to suit both your fitness level and the amount of time you have. There’s a '10 Minute Cardio And Abs' session that you could squeeze in after school drop off, a 'Beginners 15 Minute Home HIIT Workout' that you could do on your coffee break and a ’20 Minute Full Body Workout’ if you want to push yourself even harder.

You can sweat away to your heart’s content with no fear of anyone watching, and there’s no need to buy the latest gym gear because there’s no one to impress (apart from the dog).

Gymondo

You may have noticed influencers such as Vogue Williams and Aoibhe Devlin raving about Gymondo workouts, so what’s the deal? Unlike Joe Wicks workouts which are free on YouTube, to access Gymondo workouts you have to pay a subscription fee. Depending on the plan you choose, it currently costs between €5 - €10 a month to join, and you get access to 300+ workouts which include HIIT, pilates, yoga and weight training.

Vogue currently features in her own training program for beginners called 'Total Body' which will no doubt prove popular, and all the workouts are under 30 minutes which is so important for busy mums. While it might put you off having to pay a fee, the cost is a fraction of what it costs to join a gym. I’m definitely intrigued and they do a seven-day free trial, so this is a great way to see if you’ll enjoy it!

Right, I feel worn out just reading about working out so I think I’ll go and put my feet up!
