This is not a drill. It appears Christmas has come three months early this year, ahead of Halloween.
Brown Thomas opened up its Christmas shop in Dublin, Cork and Limerick earlier this month. A house in Ballyfermot went viral across social media for having Christmas decorations up. Now twelve weeks until the big day, Sony Movies Christmas has launched, which is a TV channel dedicated to playing festive flicks twenty-four-seven.
That’s right. Sony’s pop-up channel is airing popular Christmas classics and new premieres including A Beauty and the Beast Christmas, The Christmas Cabin and Marrying Father Christmas in the coming days and weeks as we countdown to Lá Nollag.
The new channel available on Virgin Media, Sky, Freeview and Freesat, is now playing back to back movies since launching last Thursday.
“Santa and his elves aren’t the only people working its stocking off to ensure there’s enough Christmas content to keep you in a seasonal mood right until the big day and beyond,” reads a statement from the channel.
“Because really, when isn’t a good time to give yourself a little festive cheer?”
Movies playing in the coming days on the pop-up channel include A Christmas Eve Miracle, Lucky Christmas, Magic Stocking, Christmas Cruise and Christmas Contract.
We’re currently crossing our fingers and toes for Yuletide delights and classics such as The Holiday, Home Alone, Love Actually, Elf, and of course, The Grinch but as of yet, there have been no listings announced.
Oh, and if that’s not enough for mince pie lovers, there will also be themed weekends closer to Christmas from Naughty versus Nice, Christmas Comedies, Wicked Christmas and Singing For Christmas.
Sony Movies Christmas can be found on channel 424 for Virgin Media customers, on 319 for Sky users, channel 50 on Freeview, and 303 on Freesat.
The Christmas TV channel will run until January, so there’s no rush in getting your festive fix. After all, it's only September...
