These buskers are used to performing separately on the streets of Dublin.

Social distancing measures have forced a lot of people to make huge changes in the way they live their day to day lives. Some of those changes have been very difficult. Others have been a blessing in disguise.

Many people and businesses have found themselves moving out of their comfort zone to socialise and work in an online capacity. This video is an amazing example of that. From the comfort of their own homes twenty five Dublin buskers have come together to recreate the famous "we are the world".

The video was an impressive collaboration between the youthful buskers and audio technician Paul Black. It was eventually presented on the Dublin City Today YouTube channel. As you can see from the video the buskers are an incredibly talented group of young people from Dublin. They are used to singing and performing on the streets of Dublin and without this project many of them would never have had an opportunity to discover or indeed collaborate with the other buskers. The creative project is very inspiring.

As a parent I found the video incredibly touching. My own son is just six years old and is repeatedly telling us this week that he wants to be a singer performing on a stage. I couldn't help but notice how young some of the buskers in the video were and to see their passion and their confidence really inspired me as a mother. These young people are clearly very talented but to see them following their dreams is a beautiful thing. The words of the song really capture the level of hope and promise that the future of Ireland holds for our young people.

Congratulations to everyone involved. What a stunning showcase of the talented and diverse youth in Ireland today. We can't wait to see them performing for many years to come.
