After recently speaking to some other parents it seems that we all have a lot of regrets about how we lived our lives pre-children.
After recently speaking to some other parents it seems that we all have a lot of regrets about how we lived our lives pre-children.
We should have taken more advantage of all that free time, the lack of responsibilities, the endless opportunities we had. We definitely took a lot of things for granted! So, I thought I would compile a list of things I, and probably every other parent, took for granted prior to having kids.
- Sleep. I think that's all that needs to be said for this one.
- Eating your dinner without being interrupted constantly and food snatched off your plate, despite them not eating their own dinner.
- Walking out the front door without planning your venture out to the shop across the road at least an hour in advance.
- Being able to leave your hair down without the fear of it being pulled out by a furiously excited baby.
- Time. We had all the time in the world to do whatever we wanted before having kids and we definitely did not use it wisely.
- Leaving things down without any thought or concern about little hands getting at them.
- A tidy home. Now there are just toys strewn everywhere. You can't walk through your own home without setting off some musical toy or standing on Sophie the Giraffe.
- Silence. I am sick of constant nursery rhymes playing from my 3-year old's tablet and the same tune playing over and over again on my littlest's play mat.
- Watching whatever you want on TV, when you want without being yelled at to turn on Peppa Pig for the hundredth time that day.
- Going grocery shopping without, either, spending a fortune on chocolate and toys you unwillingly gave in to buying for your toddler or having to shop with a screaming toddler because you won't give into them. You can't win.
I could go on but I don't want to depress you anymore!
