One thing most of us have in common is that we enjoy feeling and looking good. Whether you are a fashionista or the thought of checking out the shops gives you palpitations, one thing is for sure, it feels good to feel good.
Apart from not having the spare time or patient enough babies, staying up to date with fashion trends as a busy mum can be expensive.
But, it doesn’t have to be. With a little thought and some planning, you can be as fashionable as you want even on a budget.
Here's how to nab a fashion bargain as a mum.
-
Host a clothes party.
Have you ever been to a clothes party? There are lots of different takes on ‘how to’ but one way to do it is, you and some of your girl friends set a location to all meet, usually in one of their homes. You bring all the clothes you are ready to part with. Each person who brings clothes is given a ‘credit’ for the night.
Clothes are categorised by price and put on appropriate rails, eg. 5, 10, 20 euro rails. If you have spent all your credit or if you have not brought any clothes along, you can pay in cash or if you have not spent your ‘credits’ by the end of the night you can exchange for cash. It is a great way to nab a fashion bargain and also get rid of some of your preloved pieces too. -
Sales.
If you are patient enough, sales can save you a fortune! Many stores do online as well as in-store sales and for some stores, all of their stock goes into the sale. (Not just the pre-season bits that have been leftover from the last sale!).
If you time it correctly, you could have all your favourites in your online basket the night before the sale and check out as soon as the sale begins. Some claim it is as addictive as couponing! -
Charity Shop.
You have to be a patient person for charity shops too but from experience, there are some real gems to be found in a charity shop if you are lucky to find them.
-
Swap with friends.
Much like a clothes party, this is on a much lesser scale. If you and your friend are lucky enough to be in and around the same size, you are sorted!
If you have clothes of similar value to your friend's clothes, then do a swap when you become sick of wearing it! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and all that!
