Millie's baby was breach right up until the birth.
We have always admired Millie Mackintosh. We were first introduced to her on the popular E4 show "Made In Chelsea" which chronicled the life and adventures of an affluent group of friends in London. Millie was one of the original members of the reality TV show. Hundreds of thousands of people tuned in to follow her love life, friendship rifts and fashion.
We were delighted when Millie announced that she and her husband Hugo Taylor were expecting a baby in May 2020. We avidly followed her pregnancy updates, outfit pics and fitness chats. She was positively glowing and couldn't wait for their baby to come.
Baby Sienna Grace arrived safe and sound a couple of weeks ago and we cannot get enough of the newborn updates. This week, however, Millie inspired us with details of Sienna's birth. In an Instagram post she shared intimate details of the Caesarean birth. She accompanied it with a stunning photograph which really captured the emotional moment that they became parents.
Millie had a hugely positive Caesarean birth. The couple knew in advance that it would be a Caesarean as their baby girl was in a breach position until she was full term. In the Instagram post Millie spoke about the hypnobirthing techniques that helped her have such a positive experience. She focused on hypnobirthing that was specifically focused on a Caesarean birth. In the post Millie spoke about the fears she had in the weeks leading up to the birth
" The usual fears around the birth of my daughter were magnified by not knowing if Hugo could be there to hold my hand, I was terrified about potentially catching the virus and I had no idea what to expect in Hospital with the UK in the throes of this pandemic "
As part of the hypnobirthing practice Millie listened to meditations at night before bed. It became part of her daily ritual and she continued that practice right up until the birth. Listening to that same track before she went to theatre helped put her in to a calm frame of mind.
Like many women it all became very real when in the throws of the birthing experience. After a "surreal" pregnancy Millie felt calm and relieved to finally become a family. The above photo will remain etched in her mind for the rest of her life. Millie's post has validated so many other women's fears too. She wanted to reassure people that
" Any new mother’s anxieties are valid "
