Many Caesarean mothers had never considered the anatomical aspects of their c-section.
We are big fans of anything that will help empower a woman. Understanding and feeling in control of her birth is just one of those things. For many women birthing resources can feel a little bit overwhelming to digest.
Some of them include medical terminology that they do not understand while others do not enjoy videos or photographs that portray childbirth. We came across the below video of the anatomy of a Caesarean and it really made us think.
The video is courtesy of VBAC or Bust whose purpose is to inform women about the facts of a Caesarean birth. The video is an accessible way for a woman to understand the anatomy of this kind birth and how it impacts the body and a woman's healing post-birth.
The creator of the video is blogger Jesse Franks. In an interview with Motherly she said that she wanted to create this educational tool to help with her International Caesarean Awareness Network advocacy. It was inspired by something she came across years ago that really helped her as an expectant mother.
" How better to explain the seriousness of Cesareans than something you can touch? To be able to look at and touch all those layers,"
Mothers across the world have found Jesse's resource to be incredibly empowering. Many Caesarean mothers had never considered the anatomical aspects of their c-section and this is a clear way to understand the way it impacted their body and in many cases their motherhood journey. It shows the different layers that are worked through in order to safely remove the baby from the uterus.
The video will help so many women understand this mode of childbirth and really hammers home the idea that while babies are born in different ways, women's bodies are just incredible.
