Not meaning to scare any expecting mums but the reality is you will be sore after delivering a baby, very sore.

I will never forget my first pee. In fact, I don't think any new mama ever will. That sting will never leave you.

However, there is hope in the name of "pad-sicles" which are basically homemade pads to help aid postpartum pain. Five babies later, I'm gutted I never heard of them until now. They sound absolutely genius.

In the post on social media, one mum shared her postpartum pain relief hack and it has since gone viral. Thousands of parents are praising Elisa Castellanos for sharing her "pad-sicle" pad hack.

On Facebook, the mum of one wrote: "To all my pregnant mommy friends... you'll want to make these before you go into the hospital!"
"Pad-sicle popsicles for down there to help with the recovery."

"These were a lifesaver when I had Stella, I'm making some now for a friend and also wanted to share the recipe with all of you."
And best of all, it takes all of five minutes to make twenty.
"Super fast and easy to make, in 5 minutes I made 20," she concluded.
How to make a pad-sicle:

  • You will need witch hazel, aloe vera gel, lavender essential oil (optional) and pads, the larger the better.
  • Open the pad and save the wrapper.
  • Add two tablespoons of witch hazel
  • Add one tablespoon of aloe vera gel
  • Add a couple of drops of lavender oil and mix the three together on the pad.
  • Roll up the pad back in its original wrapper and store in a freezer until needed.

Mum friends across the globe are tagging their pregnant pals recommending they make them ahead of their pending arrivals.

One mum wrote: " I absolutely 100% recommend you do something similar for when Miss Winnie is here. They help, a LOT!"

While another wrote: You need these in your life, they really do work."
And, of course, as amazing as these DIY pads sound we do recommend you check with your obstetrician, nurse or midwife before using anything in the vaginal area after birth.

Personally I found witch hazel in a squeezy bottle a huge relief after all my deliveries, in fact, come baby number three I had a dedicated bottle and it worked a dream every single time.

Have you tried pad-sicles before? We would love to know what you think.
