Once you have kids long car journeys go from being a straightforward way to get from A to B to being crazy and chaotic.

Once you have kids long car journeys go from being a straightforward way to get from A to B to being crazy and chaotic.
Here are 8 things that are guaranteed to happen on your road trip:
1. Someone will feel ill
Whether it’s you feeling car sick from trying to read Thomas the Tank Engine to your toddler or one of the older kids eating too much, there’s sure to be someone suffering.
2. There’ll be a row over what to listen to
From Twinkle Twinkle to Taylor Swift, from One Direction to Old McDonald; everyone has their favourite tune. The thing is there’s so much shouting going on no one actually gets to hear any of them.
3. You’ll get lost
Whether you blame the Sat Nav, your printed off directions, each other or the kids; when you’re trying to concentrate whilst listening to tears and tantrums, mistakes will happen.
4. You’ll be forced to make an unscheduled stop
A leaky nappy or an urgent toilet break are the most likely reasons; once you’ve got kids you’ll be so grateful to see the service area sign.
5. There will be complaints over the temperature
Windows open or closed, air conditioning on or off, want to wear their jumpers, want to take their jumpers off; no one will be satisfied with the temperature at any point of your journey.
6. You’ll run out of treats
No matter how much food you bring you’ll end up running out of the one thing that everyone wants. It’s guaranteed that you’ll end up having to pay over the mark for more snacks at the service station.
7. You’ll forget something and have to turn back
If we were super organised then we’d write a list but who’s got time for that. If there’s one thing that you absolutely, positively cannot do without, you’ll leave it on the kitchen table and have to turn back for it.
8.The baby will fall asleep just before you arrive at your destination
You time your journey so you’re travelling at nap time, you bring their favourite toy, you dress them in a snuggly sleepsuit and sing to them, yet they don’t nod off until five minutes before you arrive. Uh oh, looks like you’re going to have a drive around for a while longer unless you want to be dealing with an angry, overtired baby…
