Ireland is adorned with some of the finest scenery the world has to offer, and it is no surprise that it is popular with tourists and outdoor people alike.
The West is of no exception. A stunning area of natural beauty, it is here you will find Aasleagh Falls. Also known as Eas Liath, the waterfall is located on the River Erriff which flows into Killary harbour.
This picturesque 3.5-meter high waterfall is a dream destination for many and is nestled north of the Galway/Mayo border on the Wild Atlantic Way. Located a short distance from Leenane village, it is a must-see attraction for people of all ages.
Why not catch a breath-taking glimpse by parking at one of two nearby laybys on either side of the R335 regional road and follow the pathway until you get up close and personal with the waterfall of dreams.
If you're lucky, you may see even see some leaping salmon on your little excursion along the river Erriff, which is a popular fishing spot for anglers of all abilities.
Pack a picnic and explore the river banks or cross the rivers stepping stones into the forest because this is one adventure you won't want to miss this spring or summer.
Other attractions we recommend nearby include Kylemore Abbey, Dunguaire Castle, Inchagoill Island and the Woodville Walled Garden, perfect daytime adventures for kids both big and small.
