Looking for the perfect place to stay this spring or summer with your four-legged friend?

Some may think you are barking mad to bring your pet pooch along on a weekend road trip, however, if you are anything like me, it sounds like the perfect getaway. I feel nothing but guilt when we leave our pet labrador with a house sitter or at a local kennel for a few days.
If you are looking for the perfect place to stay this spring or summer with your four-legged friend, here are some of the top dog-friendly hotels as recommended by you:
The Twelve, Galway
Known as one of the best dog-friendly hotels in Ireland, The Twelve boasts a state of the art pampered pet programme giving all pet pooches a five-star service from check-in to check out. At the Barna hotel, each dog receives a doggie bag which includes a toy, treat and clean-up bags. With its own pet lobby complete with toys, water bowl, bones, towels, pet menu and doggie room service your four-legged friend will never want to leave. There is no extra charge no for canine companions but the hotel does ask for a security deposit.
Dylan Hotel, Dublin
Described as a 'signature service', the Dylan Dogs package is a costly one for our furry friends with an extra supplement of €100 per night. Complimentary services include pet beds, treats and water dishes, however, this boutique hotel also provides dog sitting services, groomers and dog walkers at additional costs. While the luxury hotel may hurt your bank balance in comparison to other pet-friendly hotels across Ireland, this landmark hotel is the perfect destination to explore Dublin city in all its glory and they allow house trained dogs of all sizes.
The Mustard Seed, Limerick
Well behaved pets are welcomed with open arms at the four-star country house located in Ballingarry, however, dogs are limited to the bedrooms and the grounds. The hotel recommends you request a lower ground room giving you immediate access to the garden so residents can pop outside when nature calls and to stretch their paws without having to come through the main lobby. Pet beds and food can be provided although the hotel does advise you to bring your own, just in case. There is no extra charge for dogs at The Mustard Seed. Pets will also love the surrounding countryside with lots of walks, Knockfierna Hill and Curraghchase Forest Park which is just a short drive away.
Castlemartyr Resort, Cork
Located just twenty minutes from Cork City, the Castlemartyr resort is the perfect location for your pet-friendly getaway this summer. The five-star hotel welcomes dogs of any size, weight and breed, they just request your dog is fully trained and well behaved. There is an add-on charge of €50 per night and there is a strict two dog per room policy in place. The stunning Resort is nestled in 220 acres of breathtaking views, with meandering streams, lakes and parklands - perfect for afternoon strolls. The Castlemartyr hotel advises bringing your own food for your dog.

Rathmullan House, Donegal
All dogs are welcome at Rathmullan House but they must be kept on a lead at all times throughout their stay. Set in wooded grounds overlooking Lough Swilly, Rathmullan also has its own 3km stretch of beach. Dogs can enjoy the cosiness of this spectacular country house, sleeping in a doggie room adjoining the guest bedroom for just €10 extra per night. Food is not provided so make sure you bring some if you do plan on spoiling your pooch with a weekend away.
