Sometimes all you need is a little emergency kit that has a few activities that will keep your toddler busy for 10 minutes
Toddlers are non-stop. They love running around and causing destruction. If they are not causing chaos they usually want to be in your arms or hanging on your leg. But sometimes we parents just need to get things done. Preparing dinner, emptying the dishwasher or even trying to go to the bathroom!
Sometimes all you need is a little emergency kit that has a few activities that will keep your toddler busy for 10 minutes so you can get what you need to do done.
Sticky back paper.
Get yourself a roll of sticky back paper and cut a large square with the
sticky side up. Cut small squares of coloured paper and have them stick the smaller squares all over the clear sticky back paper.
Poms into holes.
Cover a plastic cup with some paper and an elastic band. Cut two small holes in it. Have that and a bowl of pom balls. Have your
toddler transfer all the poms into the cup through the small holes.
Bracelets and Necklaces
Get some thick thread and pasta shapes or some circle-shaped
cereal. Have your little one feed the thread through both. Not only is
this a fantastic exercise for their fine motor skills, it may even keep
them occupied for 10 mins too.
Dots and Coins
Cover a piece of paper with dots, have a bowl full of play coins. Have your little one put one coin on each dot. Simple as that. Great for their fine motor skills and also for their concentration.
Colour Matching
This is another activity they will love and it can be done in a plethora of ways. One way involves getting five baskets and sticking a different coloured piece of paper to each one. Have another basket 6ft away full of different coloured balls. Encourage your little one to throw one coloured ball into the basket with the same coloured paper.
Shaving foam
Easy peasy. A tray and a can of shaving foam. Messy yes, but it will keep them entertained for as long you need. Add some cars or some animals for an extra element of fun.
