Any new parent can find it hard to adjust to parenthood however when you have twins it really is a case of double trouble! Twins are a blessing but they are also a huge amount of work, and there will be nights when you get little or no sleep as you do the feeds and nappy changes for one baby followed by more feeds and nappy changes! Here are a few things that happen when you have twins, print it off and show it to your pals so they are in no doubt of what you have to put up with!
You are essentially out-numbered a lot of the time- It is hard enough with one baby to handle never mind two, and yes you will struggle at the start. However after a couple of days it will become the norm to carry two small babies at one time and synchronise feeding and nappies to a fine art. One baby? Hell I am hard core I have TWO!!!
Strangers will ask you “are they twins?”- To which you will roll your eyes and stop yourself from screaming “No, I just have two kids that look similar or the same in the buggy for the craic!” You will literally be praying that people will move it along quickly!
There will be no sleep when the baby sleeps- For parents with one baby the rule is to sleep when they baby sleeps, so what do you do when you have double? The fact is you won’t be able to sleep when the baby sleeps as you will have another baby wailing for your attention. The joys they call it; I call it torture!
You may feel like a hostage in your own home- Anyone that has a baby knows how bloody hard it is to get out of the house with one baby never mind two! So feck it, forget the shops, online shopping will become your best friend and anyone that wants to see you will have to visit you at home-end of!
Parents are tired, but you my dear will be exhausted- There is no getting away from the fact that you and your partner will be utterly exhausted for the first few months of your twin’s lives! Even if you do summon up some energy to have a natter it will be about the twins dirty nappy and what shade of poo is acceptable?!
Your twins will be best buddies, but they will also fight! - Your twins will be constant entertainment as they grow older and you will revel in their love for each other. Isn’t it lovely how two little people can be best friends? Of course there will be moments that they will fight and it will be brutal but overall these two tiny ones are going to have each other’s back for the rest of their lives.

Double trouble they may be but double the fun, double the love and double the hugs. Twins are brilliant really!
