When you were pregnant on your first baby did you envision how you would be during your labour? Did you have a birth plan that went straight out the window as soon as your contractions took hold? Or, did you stick to the way you wanted to labour and trust everything about the process, your body, your baby and your birth plan?
When you were pregnant on your first baby did you envision how you would be during your labour? Did you have a birth plan that went straight out the window as soon as your contractions took hold? Or, did you stick to the way you wanted to labour and trust everything about the process, your body, your baby and your birth plan?
Turns out, you may have been a little bit of all of the above. In reality, we all are. Here are some birthing women types. All as strong and amazing as the next.
The determined woman
She fronts her labour and birth head on and nothing can stop her. She has a plan in her head and she will do whatever she can to meet it. She keeps the finish line in her head at all times and is determined to get there as efficiently as possible.
The vulnerable woman
(We all are really, but this one really truly is). She is so fragile and unsure of what is right and wrong. She needs a big tight cuddle. She needs a lot of support and constant encouragement. She doesn’t realise how strong and able she really is.
The confident woman
She has done her calm birth classes and is ready to labour her own way and in her own time. She isn’t scared, she knows she can do it. She has listened to her hypnobirthing tracks and she trusts her body and her baby. She knows her body was born to do this and she trusts the process.
The vocal woman
She says it how it is and isn’t afraid to scream her baby out. She roars deep from the inside and wears her emotions on the outside. She is anxious yet prepared. (This is me!)
The pro pain relief woman
She is happy to do what she needs to get through to the end comfortably. She believes that there are no medals for bravery at the end of your labour and she wants every pain relief available.
The surprise package woman
The one who always appears to be the most anxious but seems to dominate labour completely opposite to how you envisioned. (also me!)
The calm and self-controlled woman
She is poised and ready to meet her baby. Nothing fazes her. She just needs some slight guidance but nonetheless tackles the birth all on her own.
