Does your house resemble a poorly managed and chaotic toy store? Is it a given that whatever toy your child wants to play with is impossible to find every single time? Us too. We’ve done a bit of digging and we plan to implement some of these straight away. Anything that means less mess and more playing is the dream right? We might just get that coffee in peace.

Here are some toy storage
hacks that actually sound realistic to us.
-
Over the door shoe racks are an ideal way to store small toys like Lego and action figures. The deep and narrow pockets mean that longer toys such as Barbie Dolls and Super Heroes can fit in with ease and the pockets are clear meaning that all toys are visible and easy to find. This means less of the tearing out every single toy that they own in order to find one specific toy. This one is genius and inexpensive.

Do you have a couple of novelty lunch bags? You know those rectangle shaped storage bags that come with your kid’s favourite character or TV show portrayed on the front. Well, our kids only need one – right? Using the others to store small toys and figurines is a great way to keep the right things together. They can then easily go in to a drawer or on a shelf until they are being used.
-
A wagon or ANYTHING flat that is on wheels can be a great way of storing books. It looks good and is practical as books can easily be transported from room to room. This will also encourage your kid to enjoy reading more so it’s a win win.
-
Wall Baskets which usually house soil and plants are a great way to store stuffed animals. They look cute and are incredibly practical as they don’t take up precious floor space.
-
Old Suitcases are a great under the bed toy storage idea. They may not function as well as they used to. Perhaps a wheel is broken or the handle doesn’t work so well? Don’t throw it out. A coat or spray of some paint and a little TLC could make this the perfect toy storage solution for your child’s bedroom. At the end of the day everything can be thrown back in to it and safely housed until the next day. It’s accessible but allows for a tidy bedroom also.
-
Pictures on toy drawers or bins so that your kids know where to put each item when they are cleaning them up.
-
Cheap bookshelves and an old curtain for practical and aesthetically pleasing toy storage. You can add baskets, books and larger toys and the curtain can be fixed to it and pulled shut at the end of the day to leave the stuffed shelves out of plain sight.
-
Do you have a bean bag?do you have a million teddy bears and stuffed animals? Empty out the “beans” and stuff the bag with all of your children’s teddy bears. They’re stored (because they’re sentimental, we get it) and there is a functioning bean bag for your kid. FYI – apparently you can pick up bean bag covers which would be even easier as you would simply fill the bean cover directly.
