The latest Instagram foodie craze merges the worlds of burgers and dessert.
Mr Sunshine has decided to pay us all a visit and we are not complaining. As a nation we have been spending tonnes of time in the garden and with that has come a lot of Al Fresco dining. Picnic lunches followed by ice-pops are pretty much a daily standard. The BBQ is also working on over-time. We've been enjoying some delicious food straight from the grill.
Who doesn't love a burger right? Well what if we told you that there is a new burger in town. It's meat-free and it's dripping in chocolate or melted mashmallows. That's right - the dessert burger is a thing and we are so here for it.
On first glance we were a little unsettled by this one. We love a mouthwatering burger that's dripping with cheese, crunchy pickles and ice-berg lettuce. The idea of a sweet burger just sounded bizarre. And then we started thinking about it. Sweet brioche bun, warm Nutella, sliced strawberries and fluffy melted marshmallow. When would that combination ever not make sense? It sounds incredible. Not to mention biscoff spread and crunchy Oreos. The combinations are limitless.
As it turns out the dessert burger isn't completely new either. A couple of years ago Mc Donalds introduced a Nutella Burger in their Italian restaurants and they were massively popular. Restaurants all over the world have showcased similar on their menus too. There's everything from peanut butter and jelly burgers to burgers packed with whipped cream, banana and caramel. It seems like people love the idea of sweet filling sandwiched between a fluffy bun.
We can see why this has become the latest foodie craze on Instagram. It just makes sense. This weekend we'll be finishing off our family BBQs with some dessert burgers and we cannot wait to see the look on our children's faces!
