TikTok is great for a lot of things but who knew it was so great for finding recipes?
Aside from the whipped coffee trend that everyone and their mother has been trying to make in quarantine, I never saw TikTok as a platform for anything other than fun videos and dance routines. But who knew there was a whole community of people posting quick and easy food recipes on there everyday? Certainly not me.
This recipe, in particular, has gone viral on TikTok for claiming to be "the best banana bread" recipe. The recipe is by TikTok user Cooking with Shereen and has reached a whopping 20 million views and 3.9 million likes since it was posted last month.
Shereen opens the video with a pile of overripe bananas in front of her and says "don't you dare throw those away. Today we're making the best banana bread." You might be sick of the sight of banana bread at this stage but with a bold statement like that, this recipe is definitely worth trying.

Shereen starts off by measuring one and a half cups of all-purpose flour. Then adds one teaspoon of baking soda and half a teaspoon of kosher salt.
In a different bowl, she and 3/4 cups of softened unsalted butter, one cup of packed light brown sugar and creams them on medium speed for two minutes.
She adds in two eggs, one teaspoon of vanilla and continues to mix. She also adds that the batter will start to curdle but says don't worry about it!
She then funnels in the flour on a low speed until the mixture is combined. Then, she pours the mixture into a loaf tin at 180 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour.
Having made it ourselves, the results are incredible.
