These cookie bars are surprisingly easy to make.
There is just something about the promise of a baked good isn't there? At Family Friendly HQ we take these matters very seriously. We are constantly on the lookout for new and exciting recipes to share with you. We were positively giddy when we stumbled upon these funfetti gooey cookie bars. I mean, look at them!
You can't unsee a photo like this on Instagram. When we clicked in to the post we were pleasantly surprised by how easy they seem to be. The recipe calls for a box of cake mix (any one will do), an egg, butter, condensed milk, white chocolate chips and sprinkles. The reviews for this recipe are incredibly positive. It seems to be the perfect cookie bar. It's got crunch, it's got chew and it's oozy centre pretty much promotes it to cookie bar heaven.
The recipe comes from Dorothy Kern's food blog Crazy For Crust. According to Dorothy the recipe went viral almost seven years ago and continues to be one of the most popular recipes on her website.
" Right now, we could all use a little bit of the rainbow 🌈 couldn't we?? These FUNFETTI GOOEY BARS are just as good as the first (and second and third and 100th) time I've made them. They are filled with gooey sweetened condensed milk and SO MANY SPRINKLES for a smile. "
What makes this recipe so unique is the fact that it includes a box of cake mix. The only thing you have to weigh is a bit of butter. According to Dorothy the combination of cake mix, egg and butter make the perfect cookie dough, and who are we to argue?
This recipe would be a huge hit with the kids. We can already imagine the joy when adding a tin of sweetened condensed milk to a layer of cookie dough before adding another layer of dough on top. Vividly colourful sprinkles will then totally seal the deal.
