Many people are turning to fakeaways to replace their regular weekly takeaway. They're planning in advance, researching recipes and creating an exciting meal over the weekend.
Irish people love a takeaway. It's a bit of an institution. If someone asks you "are you ordering?" you immediately know that they're referring to a takeaway. For many of us it is the highlight of the week. I personally have a little ritual whereby I deep clean the kitchen on a Friday and genuinely feel giddy at the thought of it not being disturbed for the night. No cooking and most importantly no cleaning up after. That's just the kind of rock and roll life I lead.
In recent weeks it's safe to say that takeaways have taken on a whole new meaning. A huge number of establishments are closed for business and will remain this way for the foreseeable future. There are also many families who do not feel comfortable taking a delivery of any kind at this time, meaning a takeaway is ruled out completely.
Many people are turning to fakeaways to replace their regular weekly takeaway. They're planning in advance, researching recipes and creating an exciting meal over the weekend. That is the thing about a ritual like this - it is so much more than food. It represents self care and quality down time with the people you love the most.
We have turned to Instagram for fakeaway inspiration and can confirm that these recipes are incredible. You are welcome.
Lili Forberg's Sweet And Sour Chicken
I don't say this lightly, but this is genuinely better than the take-away version. I made this for my family and it was clean plates all round. Absolutely delicious and surprisingly easy to make.
Kenmare Foodie's Nacho Chicken Burger
This is an air-fryer recipe which adds a little layer of smug to the whole experience. This burger has got everything. Crispy chicken, crunchy nachos, cheese sauce, fresh Guacamole and a fluffy brioche bun. Karen can do no wrong in our eyes, but this is next level!
Cliona O' Connor's Sticky Maple Chicken Wings
Mum of four Cliona is full of delicious food ideas, but these sticky chicken wings are mouth-watering. They've got attitude but aren't spicy so they work perfectly for little hands. You'll make these time and time again!
Little Dish's Mc Breakfast Muffin
It's may be hard to believe, but this was made by an 11 year old. IMAGINE your child hand delivering this sausage and egg muffin to you? For parents Gina and Karol this is a reality. Of course Holly didn't lick it off a stone - her parents are cookbook authors and generally famous for making the internet giddy about grub!
Nadia El Ferdaoussi's Spice Bag
We have always loved Nadia's travel content but her food and recipes have been really brilliant recently. As Nadia said, this is a great opportunity for us to try and recreate our favourite takeaway dishes. Doesn't this look amazing?
