Christmas is coming and (whether we like to admit it or not), we are on a big cleaning buzz to get the house perfect before the big day.
Cleaning the house is part and parcel of the Christmas process and it needs to be done, even when we think we don’t want to do it. Cleaning those things will take a bit of time but the long-term benefits will be so worth it.
Here are some of the things you need to clean right now before Christmas comes:
The fridge and freezer.
The fridge and freezer are going to be put under a lot of pressure for the weeks of Christmas holidays and whether you are eating at home on the day or heading out, there will usually be a lot of shopping in the fridge.
The freezer and fridge will benefit from a quick clean and tidy up – don’t forget to rotate food so you get what you need without wasting food.
Cupboards.
The cupboards (not unlike the fridge and freezer) will need a freshen up to manage the influx of food. The cupboards are ideal for keeping the crisps and treats and as there will be plenty of those, you may want to get your presses tidied up quickly to avoid them bursting at the seams.
Carpets.
It’s boring, but the carpets usually need cleaning before the Christmas period even though they’ll get dirty just as quick! If you are having visitors, then you’ll want the carpets to look their very best.
Oven and hob.
It’s going to be used a lot, so it needs to be sparkling to work to its best. Take the time to clean out the oven with oven cleaner and give the hob a good clean. Once it is done it looks great and you’ll be ready for the turkey and ham dinner.
Kids' bedrooms.
It may seem a waste of time but cleaning the kiddies' room (with their help) will save a huge amount of sorting out after Christmas Day. If you can put aside some time to get those bits done, you’ll find it easier with space to pop their new gifts away.
Windows.
There is nothing like clean windows for the Christmas and with visitors coming over, it is only right that you’ll want the house to look its best with shiny windows!
Front path.
When you're expecting visitors, having the pathway to your home cleared and tidy is a godsend. Make sure you have some good lighting for the festive period included on the front porch. It looks great!
Under-the-stairs storage.
Unde-the-stairs storage is great but only if it is tidy and organised. Tidy it up before guests come over and have a place to hang the coats and scarves so they don’t look messy hanging over the stairs.
Bathroom.
The guest bathroom should look nice and clean so if it needs a deep clean, do it now to save yourself the extra work come Christmas day. Add some scented candles and potpourri too.
