As life is so busy, it is understandable that finding the time to clean the house is hard.
When you do find the time, there are so many other things you would rather do than clean your house.
Also, there is nothing worse than getting a phone call from a friend or family member who are dropping over unannounced!
We know how difficult it is, so we have put together some tips to help you get the housework done quicker than ever before.
Accept it won’t be perfect.
Cleaning the house quickly means your home may not be “super clean” or to your usual standards but it is enough to keep you from feeling like your home is dirty.
Choose the times for the “big clean” and other times for a quick clean that is simple and effective. This helps a lot in getting what needs to be done at the right time and day.
Ask for help.
This may be cheating, and you may not have anyone to ask but if you ask for help, the house can be cleaned in half the time instead of you running around doing it all.
This means grabbing the little ones and teaching them how to fold laundry or how to hoover a floor. Not all kids will be happy about this and not all kids will be good at it either, but it helps, so go with it! Assign rooms to each of the kids and get your partner involved too.
Invest in the right tools.
Having a good hoover helps and an easy to use mop is also good. You could buy one of those spray bottles that is reusable for the floor instead of putting a bucket of hot water and bubbles together.
Save your time and money by discovering the cleaning products that work. Be careful to not invest in the sort of cleaning products that promise the sun, moon and stars – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Time yourself.
Set a stopwatch so you can’t spend too long on some tasks and lose time on others. Instead, set your timer and it will help you be motivated to get it done quickly. No stopping to look at your phone or catching up on the TV – just clean and clean quickly!
Throw stuff into cupboards.
This works perfectly if you are expecting visitors in a few minutes and you don’t have time to get all the kid’s toys into storage or put them away into the proper places.
Equally, you may not have time to polish or clean properly so run around with a cloth quickly to get rid of the dust, wipe down kitchen counters and throw excess stuff into cupboards and other places so that it won’t fall out of it. No one will notice - as long as you avoid those cupboards while you have visitors in case a lot of stuff falls out!
Light candles and spray air freshener
No one will know your home was dirty a few minutes ago if you have air freshener and some nice candles too. It welcomes people into your home and one of our other tricks is to put on fresh croissants and scones, you can buy these frozen in the shops, so they are easy to pop on at the last minute.
Domestic bliss is not too far away!
