The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the announcement this past weekend.
Valentine's Day turned out to be a little more exciting for the Royal family this week, with the announcement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expecting their second child. A black and white photo of the happy couple has been shared, showing them sitting under a tree in LA.
Harry (36) and Meghan (39) are already parents to their son Archie, who will be turning two this coming May. The due date of baby number two has not been revealed, however.
A spokesperson for the couple said: "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child."
According to sources, Harry and Meghan spoke with the Queen to get her blessing before making the announcement.
It was photographer Misan Harriman who took the photo of the happy couple sitting underneath the tree. He congratulated them online, writing: "Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!"
In March last year, Harry and Meghan made the controversial decision to absolve themselves of any senior working duties pertaining to the Royal Family. they now live in California and have been keeping busy working on various TV and movie projects.
Meghan revealed last year that she had suffered a miscarriage in 2020. She wrote in the New York Times in November: "I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second."
