Jessica honestly writes about how she was mad when she first heard that her little girl would have special needs.
Jessica Young Egan welcomed her first child, a baby girl, late last year. And in a recent post on her Instagram, OurSweetGwendolyn, the mum has written a beautiful post about her baby order that came with an upgrade.
Little Gwendolyn was born with Down Syndrome in December of last year, and while the mum was initially overwhelmed by the news, she is now grateful that her ‘order’ for a baby with “regular amount of chromosomes” was upgraded.
Under a sweet photo of her baby girl, Jessica honestly writes about how she was mad when she first heard that her little girl would have special needs.
“They called me shortly after my order was in production and said “Great news, we went ahead and upgraded you to extra chromosomes for free!” she wrote on her Instagram.
“You’ll receive the extra chromosomes with your completed order in 9 months.” What?! I was mad! All the other orders I had seen displayed via perfect Instagram posts did NOT have extra chromosomes.”
In her tongue in cheek post, Jessica notes how, while she was initially shocked at being told her little girl would have Down syndrome, she would take the “upgrade” again if offered.
“I posted some photos below of the finished product and you can see the extra chromosome is so worth it - it is extra cute, extra special, and extra-ordinary! So much extra joy. Would purchase again for sure.”

Not surprisingly, Jessica’s post has received nothing but praise ever since it appeared on Instagram in February.
"This is so well said and lovingly comical! I love the way you put your thoughts into words!" wrote one follower.
Others who received their very own special upgrades shared their own stories.

“I just got me one of these, too! She's brand new, but sweet and snuggly, and I'm looking forward to discovering who she is.”
