Riverdance: The Animated Adventure lands on Sky Cinema and NOW later this month.
The Irish sensation that is Riverdance is getting its own animation movie - and it arrives later this month. The new Sky original title promises to bring the spirit and excitement of Irish dance to life for a new audience - all told through a magical and mythical original story. There's also a stellar Irish cast who lend their voices to the family adventure.
The Irish James Bond (and expert singer in Mamma Mia!) Pierce Brosnan is among the cast, as well as Brendan Gleeson from Harry Potter and In Bruges, John Kavanagh from Vikings, Pauline McLynn from Father Ted, and stand-up Irish comic and hilarious actor Aisling Bea, who has starred in This Way Up for Channel 4, and Living With Yourself on Netflix.
The story of the feature film follows a boy named Keegan (Sam Hardy) and a Spanish girl named Moya (Hannah Herman Cortes) as they journey into the mythical world of the legendary Megaloceros Giganteus (an Irish elk). The film also stars Lilly Singh and Jermaine Fowler. Rising Irish musical artist Lyra will also release a new single to go alongside the movie's release.
The Irish animation was directed by Eamonn Butler, who has worked on many Marvel movies, and Dave Rosenbaum, whose back-catalogue includes Sing and The Secret Life of Pets. There's also an original score from Grammy Award-winning Irish composer Bill Whelan which features in the thrilling adventure.
