Cassandra Appleton has a very good trick for making your clothes look brand new, and it’s genius.
The Australian mum-of-four took to the Mums Who Clean Facebook page recently, to share an experience that left her a little 'mortified'.
Cassandra had washed and hung her kids’ uniforms on the last day of school, and just before they were due to go back, she decided to do a strip wash.
And despite having already cleaned them, the mum was left feeling embarrassed by the colour of the water after taking out her ‘apparently already’ clean clothes.
“It’s amazing what gets caught up in the materials that our machines just don't get out,” she shared, before telling Kidspot that she uses the trick on towels, linen and her husband’s work clothes.
For those who have never heard of strip washing, it is actually pretty easy.
All you need to do is fill up a bath with hot water, add 1 capful of pre-treat detergent and stain remover and 2 capfuls of laundry detergent.
Allow the clothes to soak for 24 hours before emptying the water and repeating the process again.
Give the clothes another rinse in the washing machine and, voila, they’re like brand new.
