There are lots of things that happen in most houses all over the world. It is funny how every household has their own traditions, but the basics remain the same!
It is finally here, Christmas morning but there is so much going on and it is bedlam! There are lots of things that happen in most houses all over the world. It is funny how every household has their own traditions, but the basics remain the same! Here are some of them:
The kids will wake at stupid o clock!
Yes, the kids will wake at a stupid hour and parents may only fit in a few hours sleep leaving them exhausted, but it won’t matter. Though if you can you should try and aim for at least a 5am start and not a 3am start as that is an ungodly hour!
Someone will cry
The person crying might be you, your kiddies or your partner but usually, there will be a person who can’t hold in their emotions. This is quite common, and it is a nice way for some people to show their appreciation at the gifts they receive or simply because they have so many people they love in the same room.
The kids will be jumping for joy
The kiddies will usually be jumping for joy and before you even get down the stairs they will be firing on all cylinders! There will be leaps and jumps into the living room to find where Santa has left their gifts. It is a beautiful time and one of the best moments in life for a parent.
Everyone needs a tipple
It is Christmas after all and everyone likes a tipple at Christmas so whether it be a glass of champagne or a baileys coffee, usually a tipple is had!
Sweets are ok for breakfast
This is probably one of the few times in the year where having chocolate is acceptable for breakfast and the more the better! Even though a smashing breakfast will be served up, sweets and chocolate or crisps will be eaten throughout the day!
The tree will be rocked around the place- With the kids battling to grab their gifts the Christmas tree will be rocking to and fro!
Wrapping paper chaos
There will be piles and piles of wrapping paper in the house – something that can be frustrating for parents, but it is part and parcel of Christmas! See what we did there?! The kids’ stuff will be buried underneath the pile of wrapping paper once the kids have opened everything and with boxes to it is chaos!
There may be petty arguments
With the amount of wrapping paper and chaos, it is natural there may be petty squabbles usually because one kid loses their tiny gift! It will be buried under a pile of wrapping paper but for those few minutes the kiddie involved will lose the will to live.
Everyone will be genuinely happy
Regardless of petty squabbles, the mess and the amount of sugar everyone consumes, everyone will be delightfully happy! This is the best part of Christmas morning as the kids sleepily awaken to being deliriously happy.
Family will visit
There is nothing better than extended family showing up for Christmas and most of them come in the morning to get a look at everyone’s gifts.
Family is what Christmas is all about!
