When you decide to lose some weight you will already have an idea of some of the positives that it will bring in to your life.
I’m Tracey! I am a Slimming World Consultant in Tallaght but most importantly I am a Slimming World member. I have lost five stone following the plan and words cannot convey just how much it has changed my life in every single way.
I was a comfort eater, a secret eater and miserably unhappy for all of my teenage life. Since becoming a parent something clicked for me.
I want to be around for my son for as long as I can be. I don’t want him to grow up seeing
food as the enemy and as a reason to hide his emotions. Slimming World has changed everything for me and I want to help others do the same.
When you decide to lose some weight you will already have an idea of some of the
positives that it will bring in to your life. You might be focusing on one particular element and that motivates you to keep going and give it your all. You might be surprised to learn just how many positives this lifestyle change will bring though. I had no idea that weight loss would change so many things about my everyday life. So many things improved for me and to this day I cannot believe how many daily stresses and negatives that were related to my weight issues.
Here are 10 positive things that weight loss could bring in to your life. You have so much to be excited about.
1. An Interest In Fashion
This one took me by surprise. I never really thought I cared much about what I wore because for so many years of my adult life my uniform was stretchy leggings and oversized tops. I also layered up with scarves and cardigans as I wanted to hide behind the layers. It made me feel less exposed for some reason. Since losing weight I’ve discovered a love of clothes. I now love wearing Jeans (I never thought I would see the day) and a shopping trip is my idea of heaven. I love expressing myself with different fashion styles now that I feel confident in how I look and feel.
2. Better Health
This will be the motivation for a lot of people but it never ceases to amaze me just how profoundly weight loss can affect someone’s health. I’ve had members who no longer needed surgery, completely reversed diabetes and came off their blood pressure medications all due to diet and lifestyle changes. It is incredible.
3. Better Relationships
I had no idea that my weight was affecting my relationships so badly. I was extremely angry at everyone around me because it was easier to deflect that anger on to other people then look inside myself and find a solution to my unhappiness. Since I’ve lost weight my romantic relationship, friendships and family connections are so much better.
4. Get-Up-And-Go
My energy levels are so much better now. I find it easier to get up in the morning, run into the shop if I only have a couple of minutes and play with my son. It’s life changing because we do these things every day.
5. Better Work
I take so much more pride in the work I do now because I have so much more confidence in myself and want to feel proud of myself at the end of the day.
6. Food Tastes Better
I enjoy food so much more these days because it is no longer the enemy. I eat delicious meals and still have room for treats and tasty snacks. I have lost the guilt that I used to associate with food and now it is one of life’s greatest joys.
7. My mind is clearer
I used to carry this niggly feeling around with me every single day. In the back of my mind I knew just how much I needed to do something about my weight. It plagued my thoughts and overshadowed everything. My mind feels lighter now that I’ve finally done it. It is a great feeling.
8. I Have More Energy
Both emotionally and physically. I feel more capable when I have something to do like a looming deadline or housework. I just get on with it and find it takes a lot more to exhaust me.
9. Less Pain
I became so used to joint pain and the pain of carrying my body around every single day. I now realize that it was not normal and it makes such a difference to my every day life and comfort.
10. A Much Better Social Life
Instead of avoiding social occasions and turning down invites I now look forward to them immensely. I love socialising with my friends and family and having an excuse to get dolled up.
