Spider-Man: Far From Home’ offers plenty of heart and excitement for all those who can’t get enough superhero action in their life.

Spider-Man’s solo return to the big screen will get your little (and older!) ones into a frenzy this summer, as the web-slinger is headed on holiday to visit some of Europe’s most famous locations. Sadly, Ireland doesn’t make an appearance on his trip this time around, but we won’t hold it against him – everywhere he visits tends to also bring along an unwanted supervillain appearance.

As it’s a school outing, Peter’s friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalan) make a welcome accompaniment to the various locations on offer, such as Venice, Prague, and London. You might even spot a place or two that you’ve been on holiday yourself – albeit under much different circumstances of course. You see, the mysterious Elemental Monsters appear to be wreaking havoc in all of these major cities, and it is up to new superhero Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) with the hesitant helping hand of Spider-Man to save the day.

If your children are big superhero fans, then you’ll no doubt have already watched Marvel’s previous release which included Spider-Man, ‘Avengers: Endgame’. ‘Far From Home’ picks up months after the events of this film, and it’s where we find a Peter who is still trying to deal with the loss of the only father-figure who was in his teenage life. We also see Peter struggle with the pressure being placed on him from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who is keen to make Spider-Man a fully-fledged Avenger. Add to that the fact this teenager is also trying to deal with telling his crush that he likes her, and begrudgingly battling monsters without any of his fellow classmates noticing his absence, and you have a pretty stressful situation going on for poor ol’ Pete here.

Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ is a very enjoyable movie for all those who can’t get enough superhero action in their life. While not necessarily having as memorable of a storyline as its predecessor had, ‘Far From Home’ still offers plenty of heart and excitement, all thanks to Tom Holland’s impressive acting chops, and the support of his strong cast – Gyllenhaal in particular plays his character just right (one particular scene about two-thirds of the way through might be a little scary for the younger Spider-Man fans out there).

Overall, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ is a great watch for the whole family. The comedy works brilliantly, the baddies offer plenty of impressive action sequences, and it will certainly pass a couple of exciting hours if you are struggling to find something to entertain your family with this summer (more than once if needed!).
