This fun craft will keep little hands busy and will serve as a lovely keepsake for years to come.
While many of us will want to forget this time - the stress, the scaremongering, the financial worries, the horror stories - it's important that we never forget the lessons we learned, the gratitude we had for the smallest of things and all the time spent under one roof as a family.
And our kids (hopefully) won't remember much of the stress - they'll just remember the weird few months where they had loads of time off school and stayed at home with their family. Why not make a little something to commemorate that time with them?
We saw this gorgeous craft do the rounds on Facebook last week and we are just dying to try it ourselves. Plus, you only need a couple of ingredients. Here's everything you need to know.
You will need:
- 500g of plain flour
- 250g salt
- 250ml water
Mix the ingredients together until a dough is formed - lay it out until it's a couple of inches thick and get your kids to press their hands into it.
Then simply bake for 3-4 hours on the lowest temperature in the oven (until it's hard), then paint! Using a different colour for each hand creates a gorgeous, eye-catching result, or else you can leave it plain! Artist's choice.
Once the paint dries, you can paint your creation in varnish to preserve it and then place it in your garden.
When everything goes back to normal, you can look at this little craft in your garden and be reminded of the times where you would have done anything for a hug from your loved ones or for the kids being back in school!
